Obituary
Calvin Ruessell Heath was born on September 25, 1942, in Pittsburg, Texas, to the union of Joseph Heath Jr. and Lola Isaac Heath. He received his formal education in Pittsburg, Texas, where he attended Frederick Douglass High School, and later furthered his education at Hurd’s Barber College in Pittsburg and Marshall, Texas.
At an early age, Calvin accepted Christ and began his spiritual journey at North Chapel Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as a choir member.
Calvin later moved to Dallas, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Margie Mae Standmire. They were united in holy matrimony on June 5, 1966, in Groesbeck, Texas. Their loving union was blessed with two sons, Reginald and Garthon.
Calvin was known for his generous heart and willingness to help others. He played many roles in the lives of his family—uncle, mentor, and father figure—especially to his nephew Jimmy, whom he loved as his own. Calvin was instrumental in guiding many young men and took pride in teaching them how to be men.
In his professional life, Calvin was a hardworking and talented individual. He had a deep love for music and worked as a DJ for private events. He was also a skilled photographer, capturing special moments for others, and had a passion for landscaping, where he started a business designing yards and flower beds.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lola Heath; his brothers, Samuel Lloyd Heath, Daniel L. Heath, Larry D. Heath, and James Heath; his sister, Wanda Jo Burch; and relatives Ella Heath, Donald Ray Mitchell and James Curtis Mitchell.
On March 29, 2026, Calvin Ruessell Heath peacefully departed this life.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Margie Heath; his sons, Reginald (Karen) Heath and Garthon (Annionett) Heath; his bonus son, Jimmy Heath; his sisters, Geraldine Lewis, Lois Jean Henry and Juanita Knight; his grandchildren, Garthon Davon Heath, Diamond Franklin, Va’Dol Lionel Heath, Faith Johnson, and Brendan Jamal Heath; his great-grandchildren, Blake, Zaria, and Kyrie; his special cousin, Alice Faye Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
