Charlene “Chalee” Craddock was born in Farmersville, TX on June 27, 1955 to the parents of Charles “Honey” and Mamie Benton Craddock. As a young child, Chalee attended Welford School and later graduated from Farmersville High School in 1973.  Chalee was a member of Galloway Memorial COGIC and as a child often attended Mt Calvary Baptist Church with her grandmother, Davie Benton.

After graduating high school, Chalee attended East Texas State College in Commerce, TX and began working for the City of Greenville in July, 1975.  Chalee was a hard worker and determined to be successful.  She started as a secretary for the City of Greenville, but with a lot of training, hard work, and God’s favor, Chalee became the first African American female Information Technology Manager for the City of Greenville. Chalee was awarded Employee of the Year award in 1991 and 2003. After 33 years of service, Chalee retired from the City of Greenville in 2008.

Although Chalee’s career was with the City of Greenville, her full time job was taking care of her family.  Whenever, however, wherever you needed Chalee she was always there willing to lend a helping hand. Chalee’s pride and joy was her son, Brian Keith and nephew, Brent Rashad. She truly had a “heart of gold.”  Charles and Mamie Craddock were the backbone of the family and Chalee was the spine that kept the family together.

Chalee was a faithful member at Galloway Memorial COGIC as well as with the Greenville District North.  She served as church and district publisher, finance committee member, and worked with the hospitality department along with her mother and presently with her sister.

In 2013, Chalee was interviewed by her niece Charla.  Charla asked Chalee, “What have you learned about life?”  Chalee’s response was, “TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST, DON’T HOLD BACK WORRYING ABOUT THINGS YOU CAN NOT CHANGE!” Even in her sickness, Chalee continued to extend a helping hand, she still took care of her family, she still faithfully worked at her church and district and she still lived life to the fullest!

Chalee leaves to cherish her memory son/nephew:  Brian Craddock(Heather), Brent Craddock(Caity); Grandchildren: Michael Norwood, Bryce Keith Craddock, Mikayla Norwood, Coleman Craddock; Siblings: Wanda Camp(Travis), Dorothy Craddock, Clarvest Craddock(Marion), Tony Craddock(Darla), Jerry Craddock(Kathey), George Craddock(Celia), Anthony Craddock, Paula Simpkins(Ronnie).  Also embracing her memory: a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Chalee is proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Mamie Craddock.
