LIFE REFLECTIONS for DORIS HOLLAND

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is above rubies…” Proverbs 31:10-31

Doris Eileen Holland, the third daughter of Theodies Holland Sr. and Fannie Mae Holland was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on July 19, 1953, along with her fraternal twin brother, Don Holland. Doris’s unique individuality developed, and she soon became known as a kind loving child. She loved attending church, Sunday School, and vacation Bible

School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Bethel Baptist Church. Doris was educated in Langston Elementary and Middle Schools and graduated from Guthrie High School with high honors. After graduation, Doris entered Langston University where she majored in Mathematics Education. As a freshman student she met Missionary Verlene Farmer and joined the Baptist Student Union. She participated in all activities, attended conferences, and held office local, state, and national level offices.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from Langston University, Doris was encouraged by Verlene Farmer to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. At the Seminary, she received a Master of Religion Degree and became an ordained Minister of the Gospel. While in Ft. Worth, Doris joined The New Rising Star Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Pastor Isadore Edwards. She contributed financially, spiritually and served tirelessly in various ministries of the church until she transitioned.

Doris Holland began her teaching career with the Fort Worth Public School System and was eventually hired by Tarrant County Community College where she spent many years as a Math instructor, Facilitator, Department Chairperson, Advisor, and Counselor. After her retirement, Doris became a free-lance editor for Mathematics Publications.

Doris Holland’s star always beamed brightly, and she leaves a Legacy of love, faith,

humility, and HOPE for each of us to strive to achieve. Doris was met at the Pearly Gates by her parents Theodies Holland Sr. and Fannie Mae Holland, one sister: Janice; and one brother:

Don. Remembering Doris and the positive affect she had on the lives of countless others will be a pleasant experience for her loved ones: Darrell Holland, Berene Ingram, Theodies Holland II, Earl Holland, Janissa Cameron, God-mother Verlene Farmer Goatley, special friend and sister Ethel Stewart and other families and friends.

” Behold, I come quickly, saith the LORD, and my reward is with me.” Revelation 22:20.

I NEEDED A FRIEND AND GOD SENT YOU.
