Gaylon B. Coleman was born on June 17, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to the loving union of Samuel and Jewel Coleman. He was raised with strong values of family, hard work, and kindness that he carried throughout his life.

Gaylon received his GED in Dallas, Texas, and went on to build a life centered around dedication, love, and service to others.

He married the love of his life, Debra Coleman, in Dallas, Texas. Gaylon and Debra shared 35 wonderful years together filled with love, laughter, devotion, and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with five children, and together they built a life rooted in family and enduring love.

Gaylon devoted 28 years of service as a Supervisor to the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. He loved working on the farm, he took great pride in his work and was known for his dependable spirit, strong leadership, and willingness to help others. Whether caring for parks, mentoring coworkers, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, Gaylon approached every responsibility with dedication and heart. His years of service reflected not only his hard work, but also his deep love for community and people.

Outside of work, Gaylon enjoyed life in ways that brought him peace and happiness. He loved spending quiet moments by the lake, caring for his plants, and firing up the grill to barbecue for family and friends. He especially enjoyed cleaning and admiring his cars and listening to his favorite music. Those who knew Gaylon also knew about his well-known fear of snakes, which often brought laughter and playful teasing among family and friends. Above all, Gaylon treasured spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply.

On May 15, 2026, Gaylon peacefully departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Coleman and Jewel Coleman, as well as his Brother-in-Law Lonnie Patton.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Debra Coleman; his children, Velesta Washington, Regina Sinclair, Michael Don Washington (Shaun), Kyle Defro (Joey) and Michael Defro (Jerwuan); his sisters, Linda Patton, Brenda Coleman, Pamela Coleman, and Lisa Ngon (Alfonso); along with a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, his large "out-law" Sinclair family and dear friends who loved and adored him

Gaylon’s warm spirit, loving heart, gentle wisdom, and unforgettable presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
