Rodney was born on February 12, 1957, in Waxahachie, Texas, a place that held his heart throughout his life.
Rodney dedicated his professional life as a Nutritionist, proudly employed by Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). His devotion to his work was matched only by his unwavering commitment to his faith and family. A graduate of Waxahachie High School, Rodney continued his education at The University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. These educational milestones shaped his values and fostered his passion for helping others.
A man of deep faith, Rodney accepted Christ at an early age at Graham Street Church of Christ. Throughout the years, he sang in the choir and took on various responsibilities within the church, sharing his love for God with all who knew him.
Rodney was not only a dedicated professional and a respectful member of his community but also a devoted family man who loved God, his children, and his extended family. He cherished every moment spent with his four children: Shannon, Ariel, Tamara, and Kimberly, creating countless memories filled with laughter, joy, and love. Rodney had a special talent for capturing these moments through photography, a testament to his loving nature and his desire to share life’s beautiful experiences with those he adored.
He enjoyed various hobbies, such as fishing, barbecuing, swimming, and baking, activities he often shared with his family. Rodney had a gift for making those around him smile and laugh, embodying a spirit of positivity that drew people to him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Sams; his mother, Geneva Bonner; his twin sister, Rhenda Sams; and his oldest brother, Leon Brown Jr. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rodney is survived by his beloved children Shannon Sams, Ariel Sams, Tamara Sams, and Kimberly Sams, His only living brother, Sharone Brown. a beautiful host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives from the Brown, Chandler, Miles families, who all continue to carry his legacy forward.
Rodney Sams leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
